Cardano Foundation is partnering with Georgia’s National Wine Agency to strengthen Georgia’s international reputation of being the best wine producer.
- The partnership between Cardano Foundation and Georgia’s National Wine Agency was announced in Zurich, Switzerland, on September 15, 2022. In addition, the Bolnisi Winemakers Association and Scantrust are a part of this collaboration. These four partners aim to use Cardano’s blockchain Technology to boost Georgia’s wine production strength further.
- Spearheading this partnership, Mel McCann, the Vice President of Engineering, Cardano foundation, explained that this collaboration would develop a creative, cost-effective, and traceable system. He added that this system would provide transparency and authenticity for wineries and customers.
- The pilot program will include 100,000 bottles of wine harvested and bottled between Fall 2022 and Spring 2023. To prove authenticity, Scantrust CEO Nathan Anderson explained that these wine bottles will come with QR codes for easy scanning.
- The founder of Bolnisi Winemakers Association, Guram Avkopashvilli, stated that the association’s 10-year goal is in line with this partnership. “Our goal is to produce and export twelve (12) million bottles of wine in Bolnisi in 10 years.”
- Frederik Greggard, CEO of the Cardano Foundation, highlighted this collaboration would show blockchain being used to solve a real-world problem enhancing trust between producers and consumers. In addition, he hopes this partnership will showcase how Cardano can improve the traditional enterprise.
