The CEO of Stability AI has made a daring forecast about the future impact of artificial intelligence on our world. Emad Mostaque predicts that there will be no need for programmers within five years. This futuristic outlook indicates Mostaque’s belief in the transformative power of AI in shaping the near future.
During an interview with Peter H. Diamandis on the Moonshots and Mindsets Podcast, Mostaque discussed the current state of the AI industry and shared his forward-looking vision. According to Mostaque, this vision extends up to five years into the future.
Stability AI, the creator of Stable Diffusion, an open-source image generator, is not limited to this achievement alone. The company’s aspirations extend to diverse projects across various sectors, such as constructing models for protein folding, DNA analysis, chemical reactions, language processing, and audio-visual data processing.
Evidence and more…
According to Mostaque’s observations, the future appears challenging for human coders, and there is evidence to support his stance.
Mostaque highlighted that data from GitHub indicates that AI-generated code currently accounts for 41% of all code. Even more noteworthy is that within three months, AI surpassed the popularity of Bitcoin and Ethereum on GitHub, indicating the increasing prominence of AI compared to cryptocurrency.
“By the end of next year,” he says, “I believe you’ll have ChatGPT on your mobile phone without internet.” With AI models fully resident on mobile phones, our conversational interactions could undergo a radical transformation.”
