American company Amazon has launched Nova Reels 1.1, the latest version of its proprietary video generation model. The new model allows users to generate 2-minute multi-shot videos from a single large prompt or multiple different prompts. Each shot is 6 seconds long.
“Today, we introduce Amazon Nova Reel 1.1, which provides quality and latency improvements in 6-second single-shot video generation, compared to Amazon Nova Reel 1.0”, the company stated in a press release. Users can access Nova Reels 1.1 through Amazon Bedrock.
The Nova Reels 1.1 comes in two modes of operation: Multishot Automated and Multishot Manual. In Multishot Automated, users can enter a single prompt of up to 4,000 characters, but it does not accept any image input.

The second mode, Multishot Manual, allows users to provide 20 different prompts for 20 shots. Users can also give an image as the starting frame of each shot.
Nova Reels is a multi-modal foundation model specifically designed for video generation. It was released in December 2024 as part of the Nova series of foundation models by Amazon. Since then, Amazon has also added an AI voice model, Nova Sonic, and an image generation called Nova Canvas.
Nova Reels is available in AWS regions via Amazon Bedrock. The cost is set up in a pay-as-you-go model based on usage. The current rate is $0.08 per second of video generated.
