Reports About Altman Return
This announcement comes in the aftermath of sudden and significant changes at OpenAI, one of the industry leaders in generative AI. Sam Altman was fired from his previous role as CEO by the company’s board on 17 November 2023. The board stated that Altman “was not consistently candid in his communications” as an explanation for this unexpected decision.
However, it is also reported that this decision has proven unpopular with many of the staff and investors of OpenAI. The Verge reported that the board had meetings to return Altman to his post on the same day.
Ahead of his new role at Microsoft, Altman posted on X saying, “Satya and my top priority remains to ensure OpenAI continues to thrive”.
