Gucci, the high-end Italian fashion label has announced they will accept cryptocurrency payments by the end of May.
- 5 stores in the United States will accept cryptocurrency as a form of payment, with plans in place to extend the pilot to all of their 111 directly operated stores in North America as reported by Vogue Business.
- Gucci will accept more than 10 cryptocurrencies, these include; Bitcoin ($BTC), Bitcoin Cash ($BCH), Wrapped Bitcoin ($WBTC), Ethereum ($ETH), Litecoin ($LTC), Dogecoin ($DOGE), and Shiba Inu ($SHIB) along with five USD Pegged stablecoins.
- Those who were wanting to purchase their clothing items with cryptocurrencies will be sent a QR code via email. This will allow you to pay the funds using your digital wallet.
- Gucci has focused its efforts on expanding into the world of blockchain, establishing the brand as an early adopter of Web3. Gucci had released 2 separate NFT collections, dubbed ‘SUPERGUCCI‘ and ‘Gucci Grail‘.
- Following Gucci as early adopters of Web3 include other luxurious brands such as; Off-White, Phillip Plein, Hublot, and Franck Muller, each with their own take on the technology.
