With its most recent collaboration with Astar Japan Labs, the city of Fukuoka in Japan is looking to the future of Web3, intending to become the nations Web3 and crypto center.
- The city intends to make this possible by partnering with Aster Japan Labs, the creators of the Astar network, one of the most popular blockchains.
- The partnership between the city and Astar Japan Labs will enable the development of new applications for Web3 technologies. Fukuoka joins the list of over 45 entities Astar Japan Labs partners with, such as Microsoft Japan and Amazon Japan.
- The announcement asserts that the city hopes to entice worldwide enterprises to the region. In cooperation with local governments, representatives from Astar will visit the city to give education and new use cases both there and throughout the nation.
- The new development follows a rush of adjustments to the space around crypto and Web3 in Japan. The nation was known for having some of the strictest rules around cryptocurrencies, which might reduce their appeal. However, it has also recently relaxed a set of rules governing the launching of new currencies on recognized exchanges.
- The government of Japan has plans to make significant investments in Web3 and metaverse efforts, the prime minister of Japan said in a speech on October 3.
