Korea has officially launched the first Metaverse project in Asia, and this is only the test version announced by the Seoul government on January 16.
- It is known that this project is part of the “Metaverse Seoul” plan that Seoul mayor Oh Se-hoon announced on November 3 last year with the hope of taking the lead in deploying services on a digital platform.
- The “Metaverse Seoul” plan is Korea’s 5-year plan with 3 phases: Promotion (2022), expansion (2023-2024), and implementation (2025-2026). This statement by the head of the Korean capital marks the project’s second phase as activated.
- Seoul is said to have spent more than 2 billion won ($1.6 million) on phase one of the project, focusing on the economy, administration, education, information exchange, and taxation. With phase 2, Korea will focus on 17% of this country’s population over 65 years old.
- For Korean investors, this project will bring the development “following” of other projects in the country, but they think it is more community-based than investment potential.
- According to VTV.vn, the official Vietnamese newspaper, this action of Korea is worth learning because of its practicality. At the same time, this is a big stepping stone for the Asian market in applying Metaverse to life.
