Meta has recently announced the implementation of an AI assistant across many of their platforms such as WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram.
This new AI tool, called Meta AI, utilizes the company’s open-source Large Language Model (LLM) Llama 2. The AI is designed to act as a guide and come up with suggestions about a given topic. Using Bing to gather real-time information, Meta AI can converse on various subjects from sports and movies to shopping and traveling.
“Meta AI is a new assistant you can interact with like a person, available on WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, and coming soon to Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses and Quest 3.”, said the company in a blog post. “It’s powered by a custom model that leverages technology from Llama 2 and our latest large language model (LLM) research.”.
Aside from text-based replies, Meta AI also offers image generation based on descriptive prompts. Users can give the prompt “@MetaAI/Imagine” followed by a short description and the assistant will create an image directly in the chat. The assistant is accessible both in group chats and individual inboxes.
Currently, the AI is available on WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram. It will be available in Ray-Ban smart glasses and Quest 3 in the coming days.
