Editorial standards
The Distributed publishes data-led financial journalism. Every figure we print is tied to a measurable source — a mention count, a sentiment score, a price or a filing — and shown with the sample behind it. We do not publish numbers we cannot show you how we derived.
Sentiment readings describe the balance of bullish and bearish mentions on social platforms. They are a measure of attention and tone, never a forecast or a price target, and should never be read as a recommendation to buy or sell.
Machine-generated and pipeline-assembled content is always labelled as such. Where a model is known to be weak — sarcasm and irony on social text, for instance — we say so rather than imply a precision the method does not have.
We hold no position in the securities we cover and accept no payment to feature a name. Where a conflict could exist, it is disclosed on the affected piece.
Corrections
When a published figure turns out to be wrong, we correct it promptly and note the change on the affected piece. Accuracy is a routine, not an announcement. If you believe a number is incorrect, write to the newsroom and we will check it against the source.
Sentiment & data
Scores run from −1.00 to +1.00 and describe the balance of bullish and bearish mentions, weighted by an author-trust score. Always read a score with the mention count beside it: the same +0.40 means very different things at 50 mentions and at 5,000. A full account of how the pipeline works lives on the methodology page.
