Rush Enterprises, Inc. reported second-quarter 2026 revenues of $1.9 billion and net income of $72.8 million, or $0.91 per diluted share, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The results compare with revenues of $1.931 billion and net income of $72.4 million, or $0.90 per diluted share, in the second quarter of 2025, the company said in the filing. The company's absorption ratio was 130.8% for the quarter, compared with 135.5% a year earlier.
The company's Board of Directors declared a three-for-two stock split for both Class A and Class B common stock, to be paid as a stock dividend on August 31, 2026, to shareholders of record as of August 11, 2026, according to the filing. The split will increase Class A shares outstanding from about 61.1 million to about 91.7 million and Class B shares from about 16.7 million to about 25.0 million, the filing said.
The Board also declared a post-split cash dividend of $0.14 per share of Class A and Class B common stock, payable September 24, 2026, to shareholders of record as of September 9, 2026, the filing said. Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President W.M. "Rusty" Rush said the amount represents a 10.5% increase over the prior quarterly dividend and marks the company's tenth increase since it began paying a quarterly dividend in July 2018.
During the quarter, the company completed the acquisition of five Peterbilt dealerships in Baton Rouge, Houma, Lafayette, Lake Charles and New Orleans, Louisiana, and acquired five commercial vehicle dealerships in southwestern Ontario, according to the filing. On July 23, the company announced it had signed an agreement to form a 50%-owned joint venture with MCT Companies, a Carrier Transicold dealer group, with the transaction expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, the filing said.
Aftermarket products and services accounted for approximately 64.0% of total gross profit in the quarter, with parts, service and collision center revenues of $645.7 million, up 1.5% from the second quarter of 2025, according to the filing. The company sold 3,172 new Class 8 trucks in the U.S., a decrease of 0.2% year over year, and 3,165 new Class 4-7 medium-duty commercial vehicles, a decrease of 12.7% year over year, the filing said. The company also sold 1,788 used commercial vehicles during the quarter, an increase of 4.3% compared with the prior-year period.
