Adobe Names Anil Chakravarthy CEO, Narayen to Become Executive Chair

Adobe said in a filing that its Board of Directors has named Anil Chakravarthy as the company's next president and chief executive officer, with Shantanu Narayen transitioning to executive chair, effective December 1, 2026.

Chakravarthy currently serves as president of Adobe's Customer Experience Orchestration business and worldwide field operations. He will also join Adobe's Board of Directors when he takes over as CEO.

Narayen said he is confident Chakravarthy is the right person to lead Adobe's growth in an AI-driven era and that he looks forward to working closely with him in his new role as executive chair. Frank Calderoni, Adobe's Lead Independent Director, said the Board unanimously determined Chakravarthy is the right leader for Adobe's next chapter of growth following a selection process he oversaw as head of a special committee.

Chakravarthy joined Adobe in January 2020 as executive vice president and general manager leading the Digital Experience business. He took on leadership of worldwide field operations in September 2020 and was promoted to president of Digital Experience and worldwide field operations in December 2021. Under his leadership, Adobe developed products including Adobe CX Enterprise, GenStudio and Brand Visibility, scaled the Adobe Experience Platform, and introduced CX Enterprise Coworker. He also championed the acquisitions and integration of Workfront and Semrush.

Before joining Adobe, Chakravarthy spent four years as CEO of Informatica, a global enterprise cloud data management company he originally joined in 2013 as executive vice president. He previously held executive roles at Symantec, VeriSign and McKinsey & Company. He holds a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering from the Institute of Technology, Varanasi, India, and a Master of Science and Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The filing also noted that Adobe will host its third-quarter fiscal 2026 earnings call on September 10, to be streamed live on Adobe's Investor Relations site, with a recording and related materials made available afterward.
