News brief16 Oct 20262 min read

Carpenter Technology Corporation said in a filing that James D. Dee, its Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, will retire effective December 31, 2026, with Jed S. Freeman set to succeed him as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary starting January 1, 2027.

Dee is retiring after sixteen years of service to the Philadelphia-based specialty alloy maker. He will remain with the company through the end of 2026 to support an orderly transition.

Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Tony Thene called Dee a trusted adviser and thanked him for his contributions on behalf of the Board and the company.

Freeman, who joined Carpenter Technology in 2007 and has served the company for nineteen years, currently serves as Deputy General Counsel, where he oversees a broad range of legal, regulatory, compliance, real estate and employment matters. Before joining Carpenter Technology, he worked as a litigation attorney for more than fourteen years, handling complex commercial, employment, worker's compensation and other civil law matters.

Thene said Freeman is highly respected, with deep knowledge of the company's business and industry as well as the legal and regulatory matters affecting it, and said his experience, relationships across the organization, integrity and judgment will support a seamless transition.

Freeman earned an undergraduate degree from Rutgers University and a Juris Doctor degree from Saint Louis University School of Law.

Carpenter Technology is described in the filing as a leader in high-performance specialty alloy materials and process solutions for the aerospace and defense, medical, transportation, energy, and industrial and consumer markets. Founded in 1889, the company has developed premium specialty alloys including nickel, cobalt and titanium.
