Union Pacific Railroad said in a filing that Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Jennifer Hamann will retire in early 2027, concluding a 35-year career with the company.
Hamann joined Union Pacific in 1992 as a member of the company's audit staff and moved through leadership roles in Finance, Human Resources, Marketing and Sales, Investor Relations and Corporate Audit before being named chief financial officer in January 2020.
During her tenure she became the first woman to serve as Union Pacific's chief financial officer and received a Women MAKE Award for her leadership and contributions to the manufacturing and transportation industries. She also served on the boards of TTX Company, Grupo Ferroviario Mexicano and Steel Dynamics.
Chief Executive Officer Jim Vena said Hamann led with integrity for 35 years, guiding the company's finances through historic challenges, executing strategy and mentoring future leaders.
Hamann said it has been her honor to serve as CFO and expressed gratitude to her family, friends and colleagues. She said she remains a supporter of the company's planned transcontinental merger and is confident in its success under current leadership.
Union Pacific said it will announce succession plans for the chief financial officer role at a later date.
