About the fund

The Vanguard Tax-Exempt Bond ETF seeks to track the performance of the S&P National AMT-Free Municipal Bond Index, which measures the investment-grade segment of the U.S. municipal bond market, excluding bonds from U.S. territories and certain other bonds. The fund primarily invests in municipal bonds whose interest is exempt from federal income taxes and the federal alternative minimum tax, using a sampling approach to approximate the index’s key characteristics. It aims to maintain a dollar-weighted average maturity similar to that of the index. The fund may become nondiversified as a result of changes in the index or market movements.
