American tech corporation Microsoft and German conglomerate Siemens AG have recently developed a generative AI tool for industrial automation designated “Siemens Industrial Copilot”. This is the latest innovation from the collaboration between the two companies that started earlier this year.
According to Microsoft, this AI-powered assistant is “aimed at improving human-machine collaboration in manufacturing”. Both companies hope this will pave the way for the widespread adoption of generative AI across various industries.
“We’re building on our longstanding collaboration with Siemens and bringing together AI advances across the Microsoft Cloud with Siemens’ industrial domain expertise to empower both frontline and knowledge workers with new, AI-powered tools, starting with Siemens Industrial Copilot,” said Microsoft CEO and chairman Satya Nadella.

This new tool is designed to help with automation and can be implemented in several industries. It aims to reduce simulation time and boost productivity and efficiency.
Regarding the prospects of their new AI, Siemens CEO Roland Busch said: “This has the potential to revolutionize the way companies design, develop, manufacture, and operate. Making human-machine collaboration more widely available allows engineers to accelerate code development, increase innovation, and tackle skilled labor shortages.”
Schaeffler AG, an automotive manufacturer, is one of the first in the industry that has publicly adopted Siemens Industrial Copilot.
