Marathon Petroleum Corp. said in a filing that David E. Constable has been elected to its board of directors, effective March 1, 2027.
Constable most recently served as Chairman and CEO of Fluor Corporation, capping a career spanning the engineering, construction and energy industries. He also led global chemical and energy company Sasol Ltd. as CEO from 2011 to 2016, followed by three years as a senior advisor to Cerberus Capital Management LP.
Marathon Chairman, President and CEO Maryann Mannen said Constable brings over four decades of global leadership experience in the energy, chemicals, engineering and construction sectors. Marathon Lead Director John Surma said Constable's record of value creation and management in complex industries would complement the board.
Constable currently serves on the board of ABB Ltd and has previously served on the boards of Anadarko Petroleum and Rio Tinto. He graduated from the University of Alberta with a civil engineering degree and completed Thunderbird's International Management Program and Wharton Business School's Advanced Management Program. He is also a longstanding member of the U.S. Business Council.
With Constable's election, Marathon's board will grow to 11 directors. Marathon Petroleum is headquartered in Findlay, Ohio, and operates the nation's largest refining system, along with a marketing network of branded locations including Marathon brand retail outlets. The company also owns the general partner and majority limited partner interest in MPLX LP, a midstream company operating gathering, processing, fractionation, and crude oil and light product transportation and logistics infrastructure.
