The SPDR S&P Metals & Mining ETF seeks to provide investment results that correspond generally to the total return performance of the S&P Metals & Mining Select Industry Index. This index represents U.S.-based companies in the metals and mining segment, including sub-industries such as aluminum, coal, copper, gold, precious metals, silver, and steel, and is derived from the S&P Total Market Index. The fund uses a sampling strategy, investing in a subset or all of the securities in the index, and may also hold cash, cash equivalents, or derivatives to help track the index. The index is modified equal weighted and is rebalanced and reconstituted quarterly.
